Local Non-Profit Grand Prize Winner of International Website Competition

Affinity Internet, the leading web services provider for small to medium-sized businesses, announced the winner of its second annual Making a Difference program. Alzheimer’s Services of the Crescent City (ASCC) was selected as the Grand Prize winner by committee from nearly 1,000 submissions based on a review of its web site (www.alzheimerservicescc.com) and an essay highlighting the ways they use the web to make a difference in the community it serves.

“The Making a Difference” program is unique because our criteria is simply how a company is making a difference using their web site – regardless of size or type,” said Peter Chambers, CEO of Affinity Internet. “We know how powerful the Internet can be, and we think this contest is an exciting way to acknowledge and award those who have used their web site to make a difference.”

ASCC’s website, www.alzheimerservicescc.com was designed by iSite Development with content by ASCC Board members and caregivers themselves. ASCC’s website is a meeting place for Alzheimer’s caregivers. While not replacing personal contact, ASCC brings a sense of community to a population separated by the demands of caring for a person living with Alzheimer’s. Over 80 visitors utilize our website daily as a place to ask questions, find answers, identify resources and receive support.

The $10,000 Grand Prize will be used to fund ASCC’s outreach efforts, their free lecture series and fuel Respite Program fundraising. Launching this effort is ASCC’s First Annual Golf Tournament, April 16th at Bayou Barriere Golf Club. Food and drink have been generously donated along with fabulous Door Prizes for all participants. DJ P.E. Gilligan “Swamp Dog” of KAGY 1510am will keep things festive announcing the winners of the days competition with prizes provided by area businesses such as SouthWest Air tickets, dinner at Mat & Naddy’s, and more. The first person to shoot a hole in one wins a car from Lamarque Ford and the next, a set of golf clubs from Nevada Bob’s.

Thank you for spreading the word about ASCC’s effort to help for New Orleans families living with Alzheimer’s disease. For more information on the Making a Difference competition or the Golf Tournament, contact Mary Anne Mushatt at 861-8293 or at maryanne@alzheimerservicescc.com.
