New Orleans Council on Aging National Family Caregiver Support
Program Services
Personal Care
Personal Care provides assistance with personal hygiene,
such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring in
and out of the bed. Personal Care provides a total of 10 hours
for the year, which equals to 5 visits.
In-home Respite
In-home respite is designed to provide the caregiver with
a break from their caregiving responsibilities. For example,
if you have a doctor's appointment or just need a break, the
program will provide the caregiver with an aide to allow a
4-hour break. The service provides a total of 36 hours for
the year, which equals a total of 9 visits.
Adult Day Health Care
Adult Day Health Care allows temporary relief by bringing
your loved on to an adult day health care facility for health
maintenance, socialization and recreational activities.
Institutional Respite
Institutional respite provides a 72-hour stay in a pre-screened
nursing home facility. Institutional respite also allows the
caregiver to have temporary relief from their caregiving duties.
Material Aid
Material aid is offered through the distribution of diapers,
bed pads, and nutritional supplements free of charge.
Support Group
Caregiver support groups are held on the 2nd Wednesday of
each month at our Canal St. office.
